Low light challenges both photographer and equipment, pushing cameras to their limit and sometimes beyond. Learning to work in low light opens up a world of amazing imagery and explores creative techniques which can be used in other areas of your photography. As the autumn draws in it's time to be outdoors, photographing the changing colours of nature. As the evenings start to get darker, low light presents some wonderful opportunities for unusual images. To add an extra challenge to this photography course and an extra skill to your photography, we've arranged this course to coincide with bonfire night, giving us the opportunity to take low light photography to the extreme by learning to photograph fireworks, fairgrounds and movement. Hidden amongst the sometimes stark landscape of Suffolk are some amazing places which lend themselves well to autumnal and low light photography. We'll be exploring these on this two day photography course. On Saturday afternoon and evening we'll be visiting a country estate, attending an organsied firework display and showing you how to 'paint' with light. The firework, with traditional fairground, will take place in the grounds of a stately home, Heveningham Hall. Here we'll be able to explore how light and time can be stretched and manipulated to dramatic creative effect. During the course we'll work we'll be learning photographic techniques for shooting in low light both in the natural world and with artificial light. If you'd like to receive feedback on your images and a masterclass in selecting the best ones, you have the option to join us for dinner on Sunday evening then a critique and feedback day on Monday 8th November. As this photography course is highly interactive and requires time to review each photographer's approach to making images, the number of participants is strictly limited to a maximum of 12 photographers.
Course tuition is under the guidance of award-winning professional photographers Nick Meers and Chris Coe. Nick and Chris have about 50 years of photographic experience between them, shooting everything from landscapes to cars, people to food, travel to architecture and abstracts to wildlife images. Their photography has taken them all over the world on commissioned work and stock shoots, photographing on film and digitally, in every format from 35mm to large format panoramics.
Accommodation: Not included in the course price. However you have two options:

"Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography."
