This is wild country and there are more polar bears on the Svalbard than there are people. January is the middle of winter and the almost continual darkness gives a great chance of seeing the sky light up.
The half light is also magical, giving us plenty of opportunity to photograph the winter landscape and the to explore Svalbard by dog sled and snowmobile.
Our objective is to help you to take your photography to the next level. The locations and events have been specially chosen to provide good photographic opportunities which will help you to build your photographic skills and confidence and allow you plenty of time to practice and enjoy the experience. We believe that photography should be fun so there'll be plenty of laughs along the way.
This tour will be tutored by professional photographer and founder of travel Photographer of the Year awards, Chris Coe. If six or more people join the photo tour we will be joined by award-winning travel writer and blogger, Emma Thomson, with tuition in travel writing available to anyone who would like to add this skill to their photography.
Chris is self-taught and has been a professional photographer for 20 years. He is also the founder of the Travel Photographer of the Year awards (www.tpoty.com) and author of several books on photography. His photography has taken him all over the world on commissioned work and stock shoots, photographing using both film and digital cameras, in every format from 35mm to large format, including panoramics. Chris has photographic experience of shooting everything from landscapes to people, travel to architecture and abstracts to wildlife images.
Hazel Hayward is Chris's assistant and has been learning photography over the last year or so. She will be there to help you as you learn and improve.
