Let’s get personal! Mentoring is all about your photography, your vision and your confidence. It takes time and you’ll get lots of feedback on your images in the process. Most of all, mentoring is bespoke. It’s tailored to your needs and yours alone. It has the sole objective of making you a better, more confident photographer.
You’ll be mentored by me, Chris Coe. I’m passionate about photography and about helping photographers to develop and blossom, to start realising their creativity and evolving their own photographic style. I have over 30 years experience as a professional photographer and have been tutoring photographers for over 20 years. I’m also self-taught so understand the issues people face when learning photography. My promise to you is that I will be patient, encouraging and honest in my feedback.
I can mentor you in specific genres of photography, but the approach I take can also be applied to any particular genre or your photography in general. In the process I can also teach you about editing your pictures and how you can use them.
If you decide you’d like to be mentored then it’ll be part in person (where feasible) and part remotely. Initially I’ll talk to you about what you want to get out of being mentored and to understand your motivations for doing it. Then, after reviewing your images, we’ll put together a programme specific to you and the time you have available. From then on, you’ll be given small bite-sized projects to shoot to develop both your technique and creativity, to help you pre-visualise then make impactful photographs. At each stage you’ll receive feedback, either in person or over Zoom (or similar).
There is no fixed duration for a mentoring programme so initially it will be determined by your availability and budget. It can be as short or as long as you want it to be – it all depends on how much effort you’re prepared to put into your photography. Once you’ve completed your mentoring programme, you can decide to take it further or I will give you future feedback if you need it, on request.
